The College of
Engineering and Mineral Resources
Student Advisory Council is comprised of a president
or representative from each of the professional and
honorary student organizations within the
College.
There are both graduate and undergraduate, department
specific
and college wide societies involved.
Started in 2003 by Dean Cilento and Migri Prucz, the
goal was to create a way for students to communicate
their ideas and concerns to each other and to the
administration more easily. This group plays an
active
role in College recruitment and development
activities;
it also acts as a soundboard for students.

Some of the major events that SAC members help with include
8th Grade Day @ Engineering
This event began in 2004 as a way to get more young
students
interested in engineering and computer science. The goal is to
show them real applications of these fields that are fun so they
might one day want to become engineers, too!
High School Visitation Days
Held twice a year, students
from around
the country come to our campus to tour our engineering
facilities. It is one part of our extensive recruitment process.
Engineers Week
Held in February every year this event is a week long
fun filled week of activities many of which test the
minds and wits of our engineers.
This year E-Week included:
8th Grade Day
Dodgeball Tournament
Movie Nigh
Sudoku Challenge
LAN Party
Dress Like a "Nerd" Day
And we closed off the week with an Engineering Formal
