As a principal investigator and group leader (see a group photo), under the leadership of the director of Constructed Facilities
Center Prof. Hota GangaRao P.E. and through
closely working with Polymer Group
headed by Prof. Rakesh Gupta, Dr. Liang is currently researching on
advanced composites and materials (including rammed earth) in terms of
sustainability, innovative processing, and structural designs for civil and
military infrastructures (including green buildings) with better performance
and durability. His general research interests cover a much broader area of
topics such as polymer processing/ modeling, rheology, complex fluids,
colloids, suspensions, fiber- and nano- composites,
smart materials, protective armors, structural retrofitting using FRP wraps,
nondestructive evaluations (NDE), polymer physics, green composites, rammed
earth, sustainable structures, environmental engineering and sustainability. Dr Liang’s other responsibilities include to develop
innovative and cost-effective production techniques for fiber reinforced
polymer (FRP) composites; to create active research and graduate education
programs; and to contribute to technology transfer programs at CFC-WVU.
